The Khasi Hills are located in the Northeast corner of India. West Bengal is shared with Bangladesh. The hills are primarily inhabited by the Bates who is also known as Bhoi or Pnar people. Though the name of the place is "Khasi", there are other indigenous tribes living there, including Syntengs, War, Jayantia and Hajang. The Khasi people have their own culture and language that is distinct from the mainstream Indian civilization.

This forest is home to many rare species of flora and fauna including elephants, leopards, tigers, hoolock gibbons etc. The place also has many medicinal plants diversity which is being studied by researchers.
Pynursla is also known for its waterfalls and the scenic spots that are located inside the reserved forest. One of the best places to visit in Pynursla is a bifurcation waterfall called 'Rani Diengdoh Waterfall'. The main tourist attraction here is a magnanimous rock perched within a jungle, with a big pond in front.

Jyntang National Park is situated in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya at an altitude of 748m.
