Phangrei

Phangrei is situated in the West Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya at an altitude of 1240 m. It is located between 26° 34' to 27° 03' N latitude and 91° 58' to 92° 02' E longitude. The forest is known for its rich fauna which includes the Golden Langur, Hoolock Gibbon, Indian Porcupine, Pallas's Squirrel etc. It has many types of orchids and flowering plants.

It lies near the Indo-Bangladesh border at an altitude of about 800 m above sea level. It is located between 25° 33' to 26° 10' N latitude and 91° 50' E longitude. Phangrei has many species of flora and fauna including elephants, leopards, hoolock gibbons etc. The place also has a diverse birdlife which includes the Red Collared Dove, Crag Martin and White Winged Wood Duck.

The best time to visit Phangrei is between October and June. The sanctuary is about 32 km away from the city of Jowai via NH-40. You can stay at any one of the resorts or lodges here to experience some unforgettable moments.
