Mawkdok Waterfalls are around 7 kilometres from Ri-Bhoi District and it forms an extension of Sohra or Cherrapunjee. There is also a pine forest close to the falls which offer spectacular views of various hills nearby. The name Mawkdok means 'huge rock' in Khasi, which can be attributed to the huge rock close to the falls.
The falls are best visited during the winter season, which is between November and February. During this period, tourists can also enjoy other attractions in these hills.
