Garo Hills Elephant Reserve is situated in the West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya and covers an area of about 200 sq km. It has a large number of elephants which are usually active between 7 pm and 9 pm.
Some other attractions in this park are the rare bamboo flowering plant, khasia berry tree etc. that are found only in the South-East Asian region.
The best time to visit Garo Hills Elephant Reserve is between November and March when the temperature is at its lowest (about 160C) and humidity is at its highest (about 90 per cent). You can hire a jeep to explore this area which will cost you around Rs 100 per hour.
