Arwah Cave's entrance is straight out of the Arabian Nights, a huge sunken chamber that leads to a complex system of tunnels. Arwah cave is one of Meghalaya's most famous caves and is easily accessible to tourists.
Arwah Caves are noteworthy for their fossils, which may be seen in the illuminated interiors, particularly as you approach the end of the cave. In the cave's limestone walls, crustacean shells and fish bones have been fossilized.
Arwah, in addition to being a destination for nature lovers, will surprise you with its many twists and turns - a maze where you are walking one minute beneath a high cave ceiling and slipping the next minute through a narrow passageway that leads to additional areas. For millennia, these ancient cave formations have been fed by underground streams.
The walk to Arwah Cave is a lovely stroll that has been aesthetically carved out of the thick vegetation. The road passes over the top of Lawshynna Hill, providing spectacular views of the falls and valley. A resting area is accessible near the path where you may enjoy spending views.
Arwah is about 52 kilometres away from Shillong and the journey will take around an hour and a half.
