The 4th edition of the Meghalaya Games, which will be held in 2022, began this week at several sports facilities in Shillong, Meghalaya. Athletes from 19 distinct sports are competing in the mega sports event to celebrate Meghalaya's 50th Statehood Day this year. The games will come to a close on 7th May 2022. The opening ceremony of the Meghalaya Games took place at First Ground, Polo, Shillong, which was a formal opening ceremony.
The Sports Authority of India Centre in NEHU will host seven events, including athletics, archery, table tennis, gymnastics, men's football, karate, weightlifting, and the basketball competitions will be held at NEIGRIHMS; boxing will be featured at Mawlai Mawroh Indoor Hall; women's football will be played there up to the semifinals before moving on to SAI for the title match.
The Shillong Golf Course, which is regarded as one of India's most gorgeous courses, will serve as the ground for the annual golf tournament. The Games now include five disciplines: football, cycling, weightlifting, and gymnastics.
Billiards and Snooker will be hosted by Shillong Club, while cycling, both cross-country and downhill races, will be held in Malki. Taekwondo and judo will be held at the Laban Sports Club Indoor Stadium, while the Madanrting Indoor Hall will host the wushu competition. The shooting competition will be held at the Assam Regimental Centre and the swimming competition at Shillong's Crinoline Swimming Pool.
