Shillong Airport Marks AAI’s 28th Foundation Day With Grand Celebration

The merger of the National Airports Authority and International Airports Authority of India on April 1 marked the 28th foundation day of the Airports Authority of India (AAI). This day is celebrated as it brought about the formation of a single organization entrusted with the crucial responsibility of creating, upgrading, and maintaining civil aviation infrastructure across the country. In essence, the AAI's foundation day serves as a reminder of its commitment to promoting safe and efficient air travel in India.

The celebration took place at Shillong airport, where the department heads gathered to commemorate the occasion. During the event, Rishi Kant Bangwal, the Airport Director of Shillong Airport, read out the Chairman's message, which highlighted the AAI's commitment to fulfilling its vision and mission.

In his address, Bangwal emphasized the importance of increasing the degree of belongingness among employees towards the AAI. The AAI's theme song was also played during the event to inspire the spirit of brotherhood and unity among employees.

Ensuring the safety of aircraft operations is the Airports Authority of India (AAI), a Mini Ratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India. With its management of 137 airports, which include 24 international airports, 80 domestic airports, 10 customs airports, and 23 domestic civil enclaves at defense airfields, the AAI is committed to creating, upgrading, and maintaining civil aviation infrastructure in the country.

The AAI's role in the aviation industry in India extends beyond its airport management duties. It also provides ATMS (Air Traffic Management Services) across India’s Air Space and the oceanic areas that surround it. With ground installations located at all airports and 25 other locations, the AAI plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of aircraft operations. Therefore, the AAI's contribution to the aviation industry in India is significant, and it is committed to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.

The celebration of AAI's 28th foundation day was a testament to the organization's efforts to build a strong culture of togetherness and dedication towards achieving its vision and mission.
