Meghalaya Reopens for Tourism

Effective 21st December, 2020 onwards

And every step will be taken to make your trip safe and comfortable

Meghalaya welcomes you to its abode!

To ensure that your visit is not only comfortable but absolutely safe, the Government of Meghalaya has put out a set of protocols that must be strictly followed. In addition to the NO-CONTACT protocols, every visitor or tourist must also follow strict physical distancing practices and hygiene norms.

To tour Meghalaya or visit the state for a short trip or stay, alongside following strict COVID-19 behaviour norms, you must apply for an e-invite without which you will not be allowed to enter the state.

Furthermore, it is mandatory for every traveller/ visitor/ tourist visiting Meghalaya will have to register on the Meghalaya Tourism App – Download at GOOGLE PLAY or APPLE STORE - and generate an e-Invite for your proposed travel itinerary. You can generate the e-Invite here. Moreover, only the services of Registered Tour Operators and those registered on the Meghalaya Tourism App ought to be used to get the mandatory e-Invite.

Things to Remember (mandatory)

  • Ensure that you upload a valid Photo ID card on the Meghalaya Tourism App including that of other people traveling with you or those visiting in the group. Do note that people travelling together in a group can register and generate one e-Invite.
  • For your stay in Meghalaya to valid, it is mandatory to book at least a two-night stay at a Guesthouse or hotel or a Homestay for the first two nights. You must also declare the complete travel itinerary to generate the e-Invite.
  • If you will be staying as a guest with someone or at your family’s or friend’s place in Meghalaya, then you ought to declare their full address and contact details as well as the complete itinerary for generating the e-Invite.
  • Once all of the aforementioned steps are fulfilled, you will get an e-Invite that you need to present at the entry checkpoints along with a COVID-19 negative report and certificate.

Mandatory COVID-19 Negative Report

It is mandatory for every traveller/ tourist to visiting Meghalaya to show a COVID-19 Negative CBNAAT/ TruNat/ RT-PCR report that is dated no longer than 72 hours upon arrival at the entry checkpoints.

Please note that Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) Negative Test Report will not be considered as a valid report for any tourist/ visitor entering Meghalaya.

Given the current pandemic situation, it is advisable not to travel if you have any COVID-19 related symptoms. Any symptomatic individual who possess a COVID-19 Negative report will be tested at the entry checkpoints as per protocols and guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of India.
